I’d rather live with the first than the second.” Quote by: Holley Gerth - You’re Made For A God-sized Dream * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I’ve been told, a time or two, that I am a risk taker. As such, I’ve experienced my fair share of crash and burn moments. I confess, after a few of these stop, drop and rolls, I’ve considered balling up on the couch in potato fashion and planting my wounded heart and ego in front of the ‘boob-tube’ (as my aunt use to refer to the television). But, when healing inevitably completes its process and I’m left with scars that add dimension and the pain becomes a distant memory, the thought of disengagement bores me. Risking again appeals to my psyche and I’m off in pursuit of another adventure that bears the potential to stir my heart and mind; my life.
Risking reveals - me! Whatever the outcome, taking risks work to develop my confidence, dispel my fears, teach me life lessons, unearth my hidden capabilities, build my character, broaden my horizons and open my life up to unforeseen opportunities. When I’m fleshing out a dream or a goal or whatever hot pursuit that intrigues me, unknowns accompany each endeavor. But I think it is the mystery that keeps me sharp and causes me to dig deep, to tap into means I may not have otherwise resourced. Communicating through the written word, is a long held passion of mine. So, I started writing this blog; along with other creative undertakings. I am cognizant the 80/20 Pareto Principle is working in my favor. However, mustering courage to risk exposing vulnerabilities to 20 percent of an audience that may not appreciate my perspective, seems a risky feat in spite of the probability of an 80 percent favorable reaction; for at times the percentages seem reverse. But then, when I consider the alternative that with or without my involvement, life takes on shape and resonance and motion, I’d rather risk and engage with life and create and speak and move at a rhythm that invigorates my spirit and hopefully encourages others. This excites me to venture.
