“Be around the light bringers, the magic makers, the world shifters, the game shakers. They challenge you, break you open, uplift and expand you. They don’t let you play small with your life. These heartbeats are your people. These people are your tribe.”
From “I Am Her Tribe” by Danielle Doby The company I currently work with has, what they refer to as, Five Core Values that they believe ensure success in the workplace. I adhere to all five, but, three of the core values are of specific importance to me as they relate to personal character and navigating relationships. 1. Honesty and Integrity govern our activities 2. Commitments made will be fulfilled 3. All individuals are treated with dignity and respect When reflecting on these attributes, boundaries come to my mind. As the aforesaid quote notes - “They break us open” - Light Bringers and World Shifters are not passive. They are truth seekers. They soberly face life’s situations and the complexities of relationships. Dignity and respect work hand in hand with, not only, acceptance but, too, with establishing healthy boundaries. Honesty and integrity are the fiercest, most pro-active approaches to life and to relationships; especially with regard to the relationship with one’s self. If Lying Gossip Malice Defamation Sabotaging another’s position to secure one’s own are the preferred modes of conduct, separation from the Light Bringers is the inevitable result - which creates a darkness I do not envy. I am most fortunate that my life is graced with an abundance of light bringers, world shifters and game shakers. These magic makers Encourage with the truth Conduct welfare checks Season their words with grace Risk their own comfort to promote growth Boldly protect theirs with fierce integrity They live life in Beautiful vulnerability Perpetual hope Unending love Confident trust Glorious truth Deep-seated joy These gloriously messy, stellar “heartbeats” are true examples of just what it means to live a life of abundance. After a karaoke, tutu wearing, dancing, laughing, feasting, hot tubing, merry making party with some of my tribe - a few of us posed for a photo.

My beautiful friend I am so blessed to be apart of your world. The world that I know brings constant change as we become molded more and more like the image of Christ himself. I treasure your heart, your words of life and take away from our friendship the Love of Jesus!

April, I so appreciate your friendship too. You fill our experiences with laughter and life and soulful conversations and an encouragement to raise the bar to a higher standard. I can’t wait to hike Kesugi Ridge together this summer; I wonder, can we hire Sherpas for this venture? ;) What a fun time we will have. Love you too sweet friend. ?

AuthorIn a culture where people resist the idea of anyone speaking into their lives, I feel most fortunate I've people, who care enough for me, they risk speaking into mine. Their words provide a safeguard. And I love them for their commitment to my best. I also appreciate the words of wisdom of others who, though we've never met, share similar perspectives on life. I am drawn to their words as they encourage, inspire, empower. I hope you'll find their words provide you with the same. Archives
