The Mask Of Pain . . .

           "Pain,
                     you are a terrible deceiver,
parading yourself as an angry foe, pretending to be unyielding.
                              You shadow me,
                                   Hound me,
                                         Taunt me,
as if by your mere presence you could conquer my spirit.

But I have learned to measure your ultimate strength,
not by how much hurt you can inflict,
                 but by how much of God's grace you call forth;
not by how deeply you can wound,
but by how frail you really are when put in perspective by His power.

And I have learned, at last, to believe that,
                                                  even at your worst,
you can never outlast a promise of God.
You can never outlive His love."
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      - BJ Hoff

Someone I care for is going through a very painful journey and this poem came to mind. I hope these words of hope encourage. Know that you are loved, that this is not our home and that one day soon there will be no more sorrow, no more tears and all the warmth and light of heaven will out-shadow this temporal journey's pain.

Perched on the edge of his desk, running his hand through his thick, dark hair in eagerness he leans forward  excitedly engaging his students on topics of poetry, prose and literature. His passion . . . was infectious!
I have each assignment he listed on the syllabus for his college course. They’re stored neatly in a folder and placed in a box where, on occasion, I pull them out and read over the notes he scribbled in red on each paper. Though my college days have long since passed, the passion in his words still hold the power to reignite my own and remind me, once again, of the reason I so love the written word in its various forms; even poetry.

Guffaw Thru Life

It's such fun jumping on beds . . . and couches too and eating pie from the center before serving it to others. I love laughing and I appreciate people who make me.

Life is amazing with its possibilities. And, I am blessed by the wonderful people in my life and the liberty I have to pursue what brings me joy. In spite of life's griefs, there is peace and joy and love enough to fill all the spaces.

                                                      Zephaniah 3:17
"The Lord your God is in your midst, a Warrior who gives victory; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will renew you in His love, He will exult over you with songs of deliverance."
