“Being taught to avoid talking about politics and religion has led to a lack of understanding of politics and religion. What we should have been taught is how to have a civil conversation about a difficult topic.” -- Unknown
I am thankful for those in my life who are likeminded. But too, I am grateful for those, who over the years, have challenged my perspective. They too have helped me to grow. Evangelism, I believe, is innate within the human psyche for this is often how we work to develop our community and connections secure our quality of life validate our own worth In the process of securing our position - when we feel threatened on any of these levels - we work to control our environment by pressing others with our views. On many, many occasions, my perspective, my beliefs have been challenged by others who work to evangelize me regarding politics religion morality And these too: diet, exercise, profession, education, relationships . . . are all topics 'evangelists' have used to proselytize my direction to their persuasion. Those who are likeminded and those of a dissimilar perspective each have worked to help me grow, to help me form and develop a backbone in areas I’ve not always stood strong. They’ve forced me to dig deep into my own soul and soberly face my own reflection. So, here is to respecting and helping one another grow. God has impressed upon my heart to read Ephesians and to mediate on the truths in this small book filled with riches.
For sometime now, I’ve felt an urgency to pray, to intercede for a wide variety of needs, though, I do not always know what nor how to pray. I feel most grateful for the book of Ephesians and the guideline it presents as I intercede for those God places on my heart and for those I love. I pray these truths, I’ve listed here from Ephesians, for you too. And I ask you join me in agreement as we intercede for the needs of those God’s placed within our circles of influence, for those within our hearts. Love and Blessings Prayer - Ephesians 1 (This is what I gleaned - merely from the first chapter.) I give thanks - continually - for you (Family, Friends, Colleagues, Politicians, Etc . . . ) (I find it interesting that Paul starts his letter by giving thanks for these people before he prays for them. Just this small statement, alone, reflects the condition of my own heart and my need to, perhaps, forgive - as I confess, my lovelies do not always make gratitude easy when their behaviors, from my perspective, are rather cock-a-doodle-do; which is no doubt why the Bible includes this - for our edification) I pray that God give you a spirit of wisdom I pray God give you a revelation of the knowledge of Him I pray the eyes of your heart may be enlightened . . . So, that you will know the Hope of His calling Riches of His Inheritance Greatness of His power toward YOU I pray you see, believe, receive and live fully embracing all the Spiritual Blessings in the Heavenly Places in Christ confident that: You were chosen before the foundation of the world You are holy and blameless - through the work of the cross of Christ You are loved - Unconditionally; Agape (One of the Hebrew definitions for Love) You are predestined to adoption You are accepted in the Beloved (Jesus) You are redeemed - through the work of the cross of Christ You are forgiven of your sins The riches of His grace abound to you He's made known to you the mystery of His will You’ve obtained an eternal inheritance You’ve heard the word of Truth (Truth is absolute; there is no confusion.) You are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise You know the hope of His calling You know the riches of His inheritance The exceeding greatness of His power is toward you "Scripture quotations taken from the NASB. AuthorWhen my college Professor asked each of us students to share our favorite read with the rest of the English class, I responded, "the Bible.” I love that I can find in the Bible poetry, drama, history, psychology, analogies, inspiration, prophecy, metaphors, prose, love stories, adventure, politics, anthropology, songs, advice, a higher sense of value toward others and even myself and the way of salvation for all. The Bible is exciting, a wealth of knowledge, a comfort. And I hope the things I share in my blog entries inspire your love for God's word too. Archives
