I first approached Polly in 2015 with my desire to collect and share stories that inspire. When I asked she be my first subject, she encouraged my vision. So, we started work, that summer and continued up through 2018, on a series of recordings. The last recording we shot together was less than a month ago.
Polly never complained when I’d shine bright lights in her face nor when I’d fumble with recordings I’d thought I’d started but had not. She’d laugh and graciously start again. Always the teacher, she’d coach as I learned to develop an interviewing technique. During these times, we’d laugh . . . a lot, we’d share raw feelings as we discussed the serious issues Polly did not have the luxury of turning away from and we’d share hope filled conversations that rooted each of our faith deeper into the good soil of our hearts where God brought forth more growth. My friend, of 35 years, passed away this morning. I miss her already. And, I cry as my heart is sad over my own (temporary) loss. But as Polly stated to me, on many occasions, she was ready to let go of her “tent,” as she referred to her earthly body, and embrace her new (cancer free) body in Glory. What makes Polly’s story so captivating, is that it’s a gloriously, messy life story - similar to your story and much like my own. Polly’s faced - cancer and more than 30 surgeries, divorce, judgment, disillusionment, relationship challenges and various other struggles. Just as the proverb encourages, “. . . a righteous man may fall seven times but he rises again. . .” Polly’s life is a prime example of this truth. In spite of the debilitating pain cancer caused her, she’d climb up in the saddle and ride her horse down a wooded trail or swim in the lake with her grandkiddos. She refused to let life’s disappointments and pain and failures hold her down; she’d rise up and move in a forward momentum embracing life to its fullest measure. To the Viewer who may be disinterested in the “spiritual” content within this story, I am confident you will find inspiration from a life lived large, from a life lived well and from a life filled with guffaws that welled up from a sincerely joyful soul. It is both Polly's and my desire that through viewing this segment of her life story, you too will find hope and courage to face whatever your own life story presents. Blessings

AuthorI am a mover and a doer, which . . . does not leave much time for television viewing. I’ve been disconnected from cable, satellite, Netflix and whatever the latest viewing fad is, for many years - aside from a couple of months, quite some time ago, when I thought I’d give cable a try. However, after a few months of viewing “pleasure,” I determined I wasn’t missing out on a whole lot and I asked the cable guy to retrieve his black box. Archives
